What’s a fair price for a ticket surcharge?

I came across an interesting graphical analysis published in Rolling Stone about ticket service fees from Ticketmaster and where the fees go.  The optics of these ticket fees are way out of whack – when you start calling something a “ticket fee” and it approaches 50-80% of the ticket...

ap&dToday Eventric and Access Pass & Design announce a new partnership to provide professional tour book printing integrated with Master Tour, the industry’s leading event and tour management software service.  Customers will be able to directly export their tour information into a PDF proof that is print-ready.  Master Tour also will provide tools to manage the entire printing process, from quote to delivery. The best part?  Master Tour users now get a 10% discount off their printing from Access Pass & Design.

We’re very happy to work with the folks over at AP&D – they do absolutely beautiful work and are great people to work with.  They count as customers American Idol, Coldplay, Interpol, Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion, Bad Religion, Guns n’ Roses, Fergie, Incubus, Van’s Warped Tour, Jason Mraz, George Strait, and Tony Bennett.  They also work with venues, festivals, and sports teams.

We’re working on updates to Master Tour right now to enable the printing process.  It will come out in a couple of small releases in the next couple months.  In the meantime, if you are a Master Tour customer, we will send you a code you can use to get discounted pricing from AP&D.

To contact Access Pass & Design, please email or call Dan Carlstrom – dan@accesspasses.com, 775.356.7727 x26.  Tell ‘em Eventric sent ya.

For all of you iPhone users out there, you now have two ways to view your tour information and schedules on your phone!  The first way of course is through Master Tour Mobile, our custom iPhone application, which is available as a free download in the App Store for the iPhone or iPod Touch.

The second way allows you view your itinerary side-by-side with your calendar events within the iPhone Calendar.  You do this by simply subscribing to a Master Tour iCal feed.  To do this first go into Master Tour and click on Configure Calendar Sharing from within your tour’s Overview tab.  (Or have your tour manager supply you with this URL if you do not use Master Tour on your desktop).   On this page click on the link that says “I want to subscribe to my tour itinerary on GMail”  (You don’t need to use GMail, you’re just going to use the same feed URL)   You will be prompted to create a Subscription URL by simply entering the email/pw that you use to log into Master Tour (MT will take care of all of the rest for you!).

Once you have completed this step, a Gmail Subscription URL will be automatically generated. Copy and paste this URL into an email and send it to yourself. Open the message on your iPhone, copy the URL, and then click on the Settings area on the phone’s main menu. Open Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Under Accounts, choose Add Account and then choose “Other” as the type.

Choose Add Subscribed Calendar and then paste in your generated subscription URL into the Server field. Click SAVE after the account has been verified. Return to the main menu and click on your Calendar application. From here, you can click on Calendars button (in the upper left corner) and you will see your Master Tour Calendar added to the list of your existing calendars. You can then click View All Calendars to view all of your data together!

Venue Updates & Speed Up Master Tour DB

Despite stuffing ourselves over Thanksgiving holiday the dev team still managed to get our weekly Tuesday build out the door. Build 1420 is available now. As always just restart Master Tour and you’ll be prompted to upgrade.

Venue Data Updates

One major update this week is not specifically part of the app, but rather the venue data. The next time you sync after December 2 you’ll receive a ton of fantastic venue database updates. Master Tour now includes nearly 6,000 venue records from around the world. Some of the top professionals in the industry have contributed extremely detailed venue data including facility, production and logistics information. This is also our first chance to show off Master Tour’s automatic data updating process. The new stock venue data will come through the next time you sync. In the future we’ll be updating venue, hotel and promoter data in small batches so you probably won’t even notice – you’ll just be getting a constant stream of great new data.

Speed Up Master Tour

compact

After you sync and get the venue updates, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to try another new feature. Under the Navigate menu is a new option to “Compact Database.” You don’t need to use it that often, but after a lot of data editing it can speed up Master Tour. Without getting too technical this feature basically de-fragments your database so that your hard drive doesn’t have to work so hard. Master Tour automatically compacts your database after major updates but now you can do it manually.

And More…

Build 1420 also fixes a few stability issues that popped up last week and happen in fairly rare situations. If you’ve gotten the dreaded pinwheel lately, the latest build should take care of that.

There’s even a few secret new features in the application if you look hard enough! We’re not telling quite yet, but if you really want to know, feel free to give us a call. We’re also getting ready to tackle three major components of the software that we know you will be excited about. Stay tuned!
