This week’s build includes various improvements, but one of the more exciting features is advanced mapping. Master Tour has included basic mapping since the initial release but this week we’ve enhanced the maps based on user feedback.
Mileage and Directions

Directions between all points on every map
The first improvement is designed to help travel planning and timing. A “Directions” tab now appears whenever you click on a map point. The Directions tab shows you mileage between all the locations for that day with the option to generate directions using google maps.
The Directions tab is universal throughout Master Tour, allowing you to view mileage and directions between any two points. You can get directions to the venue from the hotel, directions between two hotels, etc. Any locations that have been added for the day can be routed with one click.

Our Master Tour software works both on and offline – a critical requirement for professionals on the road with intermittent Internet access. So where is the “online” part of this? Where is the server where your data is stored? How secure is it?
You may be surprised to know that there actually is no real server – Eventric uses something called “Cloud Computing” to run all of the server based components of Master Tour, including the data from your Organization. Wikipedia defines cloud computing as “a paradigm of computing in which dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources are provided as a service over the Internet”. We define it as a smart move for us and for you so that we can concentrate on delivering great applications instead of worrying about servers 24 hours a day.
Basically, all of the physical components of the “computer” are all virtual – the processor, the disk space, the memory, etc. What this means to you is three things: 1) our servers don’t break down 2) we can click a button and upgrade any of the servers or components to make sure we have lightning fast response time for the software and 3) your data is safe and secure. We use encrypted and secure methods over the Internet to access your data so that no hacker-wannabe crazed fan can access your itinerary or travel schedule.
Eventric partners with one of the largest cloud computing providers in the world, a company called Rackspace. So rest assured that even if you spill coffee on your laptop or if our “cloud” burps up a disk drive, Eventric has got you covered 24/7.
